What is the Learning Institute for Technology Education?

LITE is a nonprofit Michigan corporation dedicated to assist in the integration of Technology Education in the schools. Teacher inservice workshops (Technology Fests) will be organized and managed; Technology Learning Activities (TLAs) will be published to keep teachers up-to-date on happenings and materials in Technology Education.

From Detroit and Lansing areas: (2 options - Expressway and Rural Roads)

(1) Take I-96 West to I-196 towards Downtown Grand Rapids. Take I-196 for 5 or 6 miles to US-131 South towards Kalamazoo (It's a left lane exit.) Take US - 131 south 8 miles or so. Then use the map insert for details.

(2) Take I-96 West, towards Grand Rapids. Exit at M-50 (Lowell Exit). This is a few miles before the Grand Rapids exits. Turn left (South) on Alden Nash Rd (M50) for 4 plus miles. Turn right (West) on 84th St. Stay on 84th St for about 15 miles, it takes you into the town of Byron Center. Refer to the map insert.

From Kalamazoo and South:

Take US-131 North towards Grand Rapids. Exit at 84th St West. Refer to map insert.

From Holland and Grand Haven:

Take I-196 East, towards Downtown Grand Rapids. Exit at US-131 South, toward Kalamazoo. Take US - 131 south 8 miles or so. Then use the map insert for details.

Note: You may also take 84th St (Byron Center Rd) East, from Zeeland.

Method of Payment

The cost of the workshop is $85.00 before September 18, 1998; $100 after that date. For a team of 3 or more the cost is $75 per person before September 18, 1998; $90 after that date. This includes lunch and workshop materials. Sponsors are assisting with costs to help us keep your cost to a minimum. Lunch will be provided. Check: Eisenhower funding may be available.
